Has anyone cleaned/polished the engine cover on their Aurora? If so, with what? I just wiped ours off with a few paper towels. Didn't even have to wet them. A few of the nooks and crannies required pushing the edges in, but it wasn't too hard. Having said that, ours was spotlessly clean as recently as 10,000 miles ago, so it didn't have settled dirt on it. I cleaned the Galant's, which probably had never been cleaned in 86k miles, with a relatively weak Simple Green-and-water solution, then sprayed it off well after scrubbing. I used two differen garden sprayers, as putting alot of water on the engine is not good. Even though I just barely sprayed water onto a few parts of the engine (mostly to clean off some oil from an engine-top oil leak near the distributor), I still had a very bad miss for around 10 minutes afterwards, which I let the car idle away. I don't think it damaged anything irreperably (this was around 2,000 miles ago), but you definitely could do some damage. Aurora40 probably has the tips on really cleaning, if you want a deep clean.

That cover that says "Aurora V8" is made out of plastic. What do you mean by polishing it? Like with a plastic polish?
You could clean it and clearcoat it for more shine, or paint it if you wanted to change the color of it.

Yeah, it appears to be painted Bob. I just replaced it a few months ago and was wondering how I could keep it looking nice as I drive on some dirt roads in these parts.

I have polished mine with a product called astroshield, its basically a car wax but it doesn't contain any real wax. It worked great and still looks shiny after about 2 and a half months. It can be bought at Discount Auto Parts. I definitely recommend it.

Great! Thank you, and I'll look for it.

I think Plastx would probably work just as well.

I thought of that and perhaps will give it a try. I don't want to remove paint, just protect it.
