Thnx guys. RocketV8 and erw, the car is way clean because I had just done the clean and wax routine. The color is actual quite a bit more toward green in bright sunshine, but shifts toward the blue end in the evening. (Something I really like!) The early evening light looked so cool and I had worked so long on it that I decided to take my only pics of the beast. Jim W. I am not Spanish. The seats are waaay back because I had also just done the leather clean and condition routine. I recline the seats to get to every nook and cranny easier and to let the same dry out better. But again this looked so cool, especially for the interior, that I let them be for for the pics. omegiac, the "salad shooter" stuff is called confetti in the haute cotoure circles, and is used as a fancy decoration. Or so I am told, do you think all those TV chefs are laughing at me now? Oh. almost forgot. RocketV8, 54,000 miles, 1998, had it since last March, autobahn, sunroof, heated seats, no Bose, no chrome wheels.

Quote "The seats are waaay back because I had also just done the leather clean and condition routine." Why not just admit to being a laid back driver.
BTW great looking Aurora and nosh.

Beautiful indeed, sir. ;D
Is that color the same as mine (Evergreen), or a lighter shade?

No Scotty, it's officially "Medium Teal Metallic". Only available on 1997-98 years according to somebody's color chart recently posted on these pages. It's way more green in daylight, I'll try to ge some new picks. I don't have a working digital camera right now because those cheap things just don't stand up well to being dropped, lens extended, onto a stone floor. I have some great APS and 35mm units, but have to finish a roll and get it developed. Being real lazy and such this takes some time.

We have two (not counting phones). I don't touch her's as the last time I dropped it on the floor of the Smithsonian and broke the lens. After Fuji fixed it for free, she broke the lens again and just bought a new one, giving me the broken one. I've sent it back to Fuji to see if we'll get another freebie. If not I'll just buy something. I have multiple high grade film cameras that still blow away digital for quality, but can't come close for convenience. Bincov, just upload your pic from your hard drive in .jpeg (or .gif) format to a hosting site like photobucket.com (the account is free) then use the premade tags to post here (it's easy, just cut and past the whole thing from the last tag under the thumbnail in your personal gallery).

I ask this because most, if not all, professional photographers now use digital SLR cameras because the quality is better then film cameras and it's much more economical to go digital because of the price of film.

I'm not up on the latest and greatest in pro gear so I can only compare our lowly point and shoot Fuji and her new Pentax or Olympus or whatever the darn thing is, to a run of the mill Cannon EOS 35mm and a surprisingly good Olympus APS SLR. Therefore when I say way better, I mean way better than 3-5 megapixel resolutions through the lenses of the typical compacts. Not fair, but it's what I've got.
I lust after one of those new hi res digital SLRs, something like 10mp or so. People forget that most of the picture quality is still in the lens, no matter what the capture medium. Years ago I had heard that, in the same camera, you would need to have 20 megapixels to match the number of silver halide crystals (which would be equivalent to a pixel each) in 100 speed 35mm film. No idea if that's true or not, but I would imagine the modern CMOS systems have improved those figures anyway.
Are you up on this stuff? What do the experts say?

<====<<< no expert here but...
I have a fairly new Fugi E-550 That'll take 12mb shots (although 6.3 looks the same) and 15mb shots in RAW format (great for pros). Cropping is fantastic and printable images can be huge. I agree with the digital SLRs but they are way too big to stuff in your pocket.
Of course with digital it's the printer's responsiblity to produce the image.

This talk got me looking at her newly arrived Photography mag and you can get some pretty cool SLRs with non interchangable lenses (like my Olympus APS camera) for fairly cheap. Not full Nikon or Canon 12mp interchangeable optics, but a real SLR with a decent lens, 10x optical zoom and 5mp capture for $250 - $300. You give up a small pocket size for the better optics, but I don't care about small, I want a better picture.

I don't really know alot about digital cameras. You are right about the lenses though. . . if you have a high quality camera and a low quality lens your pictures will look like crap, that goes for both film and digital cameras. I have a Minolta SLR film camera and I bought a 300mm cheapo lens for it and I can tell a pretty big difference from pics taken with that lens and pics taken with the stock 85mm lens that it came with. My dad has a sony 5.1 mp camera and it takes really nice pictures, as good or better then my SLR. I have heard that 8mp is equal to the highest quality film camera. In July every year I go the the Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp at Disney's Wide World of Sports to take pictures. I am able to get VIP passes so I can get into the media areas where all the photographers are and they all use digital SLRs with massive wide angle lenses that are about 2 feet long. There cameras have a built in "burst shot" that will shoot 1.5 frames(some higher) per second, thats how they capture the really nice fast action shots. The pros are up to as high as 22 mp I believe, but that kind of camera runs about $21,000.

The magazine had a write up for a 22mp Minolta medium format digital at $12,500, so the prices are dropping. Get yours now. ;D

What a bargin, I'm on my way to the store to pick one up. . . The one I saw for $21,000 was another brand, can't remember the name but I think it was a top of line brand for pros. Anyway if I had that kind of money to blow I would probably be rich and if I was rich I would be driving a $80,000 dollar Dodge Viper. ;D
