you say no options, but come on..its a Cadillac, whats it got? The base Aurora 4.0 had more options in 2001 than the base Seville SLS, and even some things the base STS didn't have (like H-rated Michelins, an option on the STS). Congrats on the purchase Kobalt! The car is quite similar to the 2001+ in mechanicals. When are you getting your Corsa system? Guess I don't get to go look at any used cars then...

I thought you were going to be showing us a V8 Aurora. Nice choice none-the-less. Just curious what made you decide to go with the caddy?

All these questions! Lets go down the line: Since the Aurora and the Seville share the same platform and the engine and bay layout is virtually the same, you can bet I'll be doing a spark plug tutorial. Honestly Jim the big daddy does not have a lot in terms of options: Rain sense wipers, autodim + compass mirror and onstar are the only ones I can think of. No sunroof, no heated/massage/memory seats and no premium sound. Just your plain vanilla Seville. Believe it or not the big daddy handles similarly to my 2001 3.5, is actually 4.4 inches shorter than the Classic and weighs in at just 3 more lbs. As for the sound department it is the standard system. Luckily the standard system has a dobly 8 speaker 250w output And yes, a cd player as well. You bet. I'll have to wait untill summertime as I am now a bit financially challenged Unfortunately an even trade was out of a question due to milage and the death of Olds. Trade in was out of the question as well, so I sold the car privately and added a bit of my own to purchase big daddy. Difference is only skin deep. The Aurora and the Seville share the platform as well as most of the electonic, powertrain and suspension components. The Aurora was my top choice as I like the styling and fighter-jet interior, but I could not find one in better condition or lower milage than this Seville. I just want you folks to know that I will be staying on the forum. Since the Aurora and the Seville are really the same save some sheetmetal and interior bits, there is no reason to leave, plus you cant beat this community.

I truly appreciate the warm response. Later on today I will be rotating the tires and cleaning/inspecting the brakes - might do a quick bit on both.

Jim, New Jersey state law prohibits any tint to either side of the driver, so the best I could do is tint the rear passanger doors. It does not show well but the rear window is tinted. Once Im out of my financial hole I will be getting the Corsa exhaust and look around for some lightweight wheels. Any ideas or suggestions? What else would you do?

WOW You have made a couple of us here quite jealous, brother kobalt. That is my FAVORITE body style of Seville/SLS/STS, much nicer than the newer style IMO (although I know many would disagree). Very attractive ride indeed... I'm sure cadillacforums.com will be graced with your presence soon. Check out some of those member pics, and you'll see some aftermarket wheels that *really* set off your body style nicely. So what made you unload the 3.5 so quickly? I hope you didn't take too big of a $$ loss...

Sweet ride Kobalt. Glad to hear you're sticking around. You have great tutorials. I wouldn't mind a Caddy myself.

Cool, looks nice! Sure is foggy (it was the same way here). I imagine most 17" wheels will weigh more than the 16's on there. I wonder what Aurora 17's would look like? You can put some Final 500 "Aurora" wheels on it, those would look right at home...

Congrats on your Caddy purchase. I was looking heavily at a '97 STS (Loaded) before I bought the Aurora, but I couldn't justify paying twice the amount for the STS vs. the Aurora. You have a nice ride there my friend, best of luck with it.

Congrats on the Caddy Hey does your 98 Caddy have the HID Xenon system, I don't know if they were available for the 98's, but on ebay they have the upgrade with the whole light housing and HID ballast module, in the picture below you can see the Philips ballast. Just a thought for the future. Here is the link. cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7947660721&category=33710What do you think? [glow=red,2,300]JAVI.[/glow]

Thanx everyone for the kind words of approval - seems you're as excited about the Seville as myself! Not only does this assert that I indeed made the right decision with my purchase but more importantly it makes me feel right at home in the ACNA forums. Classics, 2nd Gens and Sevilles differ very little from eachother; Bonnevilles and Rivieras are G-body cusins to the Aurora as well. I believe the forum should focus on the Aurora but it would be nice to accept other G-bodies as well. I think of it as the ultimate $1500 upgrade as opposed to a $1500 auto body shop repair bill. Not only did I come out with no dents or scrapes, but also with 30+k less miles and 1.1 liter of extra displacement ;D You haven't seen nothing yet *cough*hint*cough* I think they would look great as well. I might want to stick with 16" due to weight, ride quality and need of new tires. In the event I do stick with 16" I will look for the lightest wheels possible to further refine ride/performance/handling. The Aurora was my first choice as well. The problem was that I needed a car this week, there were no nice Auroras with lower milage in my area, and the Caddy deal was too good to pass by. I drove an STS with the HIDs. Was trashed and too many miles to purchase but the HIDs looked absolutely stunning in person. A definate upgrade for the future.

I hate to admit it K-man, but good deal getting out of the A for the C. I loved your Aurora, especially the color and the clean interior, but it did have some financial liabilities with the miles and nicks. Looks like you made a good move here, congrats on a really nice car and a wise financial decision. (Dang, now you can outrun me.) Did you refer the new owner of the blue bomber to our site? We hope you stick around, by why not recruit a new member. And as a charter member, of course you're still invited to the New Jersey chapter Aurora meets. ;D National invitations will have to be approved by the membership, there may be Caddy haters lurking within. J/K
