Greetings everyone! I just found this forum not too long ago and I thought this would be a good time to show off my baby. It is a '97 Aurora with just over 100,000 miles. I bought it for under book and I even made them throw in new tires. Going from a '93 Cougar to this car was like a night and day difference. I care more for this car then I do many people's lives...... But that isn't really saying much as I don't like many people. www.bigmike316.com/images/new_car1.jpgwww.bigmike316.com/images/new-car2.jpgMike

A little reactionary up there in the Dakotas, eh Mike? I like it. ;D
Very nice looking Champagne buty ya got there. Great condition regardless of miles, a fabulous example at over 100,000! I'll bet it's a LOT better than the Cougar. Congrats and welcome to our family.

It is nice to be received so kindly. It is also nice to be in the company of fellow Aurora owners that know the true pleasure of owning one of these cars.
If there is anything I can do for anyone just let me know. I have a website that is professionally hosted so if anyone needs a place to put some pictures or video just contact me. I have lots of space and quite a bit of bandwidth. I am also quite good with computers (I fix them for a living) so if anyone needs advice I can do that too.

I can't believe how clean my car is either. It is my understanding that it was in a garage for the better part of its life. The paint is is perfect, there is no body damage of any kind, and the interior is as clean as I could ever dream for a car of its age and mileage. I will get more pictures when warmer weather comes around. Right now it is far from clean. But with the temp getting to 10 degrees at best I don't think I can wash her. I might have to get some pictures of the interior when I get a chance though.

Welcome to Da Aurora Club, I don't recall if you were at the Introduction page but it's good to have you here. Your Aurora looks clean, that color is just perfect, next to a Black Aurora. What are the plans you got instore for your Aurora? Also thought I let you know, I'm putting together a Custom Indiglo Gauges pre-order for the Classic Aurora. You can find more detailed information at the link below. www.speedhut.com/15orders_el_detail.asp?auto_number=75&bhcp=1No one else in the web or globe has them available for the Classic Aurora, so we in the pre-order would be the very first people to own a set of these gauges. Thanks, [glow=red,2,300]Javi.[/glow]

As far as modding my car goes first things first. I am going to buy a new CD player and mount that where that old OEM thing is. I am going to be looking for something fairly high end. I sold my Pioneer DEH 7400MP with the cougar so I am looking for something equal or better then that.
Then I need to get myself an amp kit and get my two Audiobahn 12"s in the trunk. After that it is going to be new high end in the factory locations. I am thinking maybe Infinity or maybe a set of Alpines. I will just have to hear them and see what I like best.
As far as the install of my new sound stuff it is going to be as clean as possible. And I don't want to lose all of my trunk to sound equiptment this time around. The Aurora is not short on trunk space and it would be a crime if I couldn't use at least some of it from time to time.
Other then that I am going to tint the windows down to the legal limits. I might change out the exhuast system for something with a little more depth. I want those imports to know they are in trouble before I even touch the gas. I think I am going to put a K&N filter on the intake but other then that I don't know what else I can do with it.
I was thinking about some interior lighting but I think that would just end up looking lame. I am up for suggestions from anyone that has something to offer me.

The First thing you can do it to go here and do this mod. Many people like it. I even did mine, but "regutted" it awhile later.

Hey Apocalypse, I was looking at changing my head unit to an ///// Alpine, I was thinking of going with the Alpine CDA-9835, here is a picture, you might find interesting. I wouldn't mind this Kenwood e Xcelon below either, I don't think it might fit though. But you should be okay with them 2 12's in the trunk. I'm running one JL Audio 12 in a Bandpass enclosed box and it sounds nice, now I image 2 12's, some serious bumping. [glow=red,2,300]Javi.[/glow]

That kenwood looks awesome but I don't think it will fit. That looks like a double din sized player. Our cars only have a din and a half sized hole. I am considering Pioneer, kenwood, apline and panasonic CD players. I found this Panasonic that I kinda like. Panasonic CD playerI like this Pioneer: Pioneer CD playerI couldn't find anything on either Kenwood or Alpine's sites that was in my price range and was something I liked. I am thinking I am going to go with the pioneer though. It looks like an updated version of the one that was in my cougar when I sold it. Mike

To make a link look like a few words just do this. This is a link to my site. Mike's websiteSo to do what I did up there you just do this: (url=www.bigmike316.com)Mike's website(/url) To make this work you will use [ and ]. I substituted [ and ] for ( and ) so I could show everyone. That is my lesson on BB code, you are all excused for the rest of the day. You may be quized on this tomorrow. Mike

I was thinking about some interior lighting but I think that would just end up looking lame. I am up for suggestions from anyone that has something to offer me. The best mod for the money is as erw said, the airbox gutting. Put a K&N in and it's a modest increase in power for practically free. Here's a car in the same color with the newer 17" wheels. I think they look very sharp on the classic Aurora, though the main benefit of this mod is simply appearance. So that might not have the return on the cost you want: Also, you can adjust that gap in the hood for free. I don't know why the classics seem to have that issue, but you can minimize it. I've seen posts on Edmunds but can't recall the specifics (as I don't have a classic). I believe you move the bumper, though, not the hood.

I'd like to know more about that. I started a new topic about it in Exterior, in case anyone else knows and isn't following this thread.
