In a weak moment, I thought about trading in my 2001 3.5L. I bought it new and have put 94K on it. I was told that as a trade-in it was worth $6000!! The car doesn't have a mark on it. I came to my senses. I'm thinkin another 100K and I'll start looking for something else. Maybe GM will make a Cadillac Aurora by then.

not to change subject, but I'm just trying to find out how reliable this 3.5 really is. I'm used to the 3800 scene and haven't been around the 3.5 at all so I know basically nothing about it. What are some common problems with the engine and what problems have you had? Thanks! I've only put 850 miles on my car since I bought it 2 weeks ago.

The 3.5 Shortstar is a good engine. Some years ago, it was mentioned in Ward's Auto World as being one of the 10 best engines in the world. Read about that here. ________________ GM!!! BRING BACK OLDS!!!

I always liked the term used in this article to describe the 3.5L Shortstar. The reference to it being "gloriously expensive" is one of my favorite descriptions, and really makes the engine sound like something special.
