********EDITED BY XJSMAN89*********** The original poster deleted the how-to that he had posted. rca99aurora has made a more comprehensive writeup, I contributed a little bit but he did a great job. Here is the link to the new LED rear panel writeup. This thread will remain locked, please direct all questions there. Thanks! There are other trunk panel mods out there but ours is by far the cleanest and best looking. Using a hidden LED looks a lot better than stringing a bunch of lights across the back and having hotspots. Here's a picture from the 2009 Springfield, MO meet. His Black 99' is on the left, my 96' is on the right.

I'm... nearly... speechless! Someone finally did it! I did not imagine the design at all that way, with the LED's facing downward and just illuminating the empty space (rather than shining straight out the back). EXCELLENT JOB.

That looks great!
In my opinion, it really adds to the appearance of the car. Almost like it was supposed to be that way.
I'll definitely be doing this mod when I get the chance. However, I think I may try a non-colored LED strip. The color of the middle panel doesn't exactly match the standard tail lights. Little too much red maybe?

that looks great, best one so far!
question tho does it get brighter if you step on the brakes? or does it always just stay light up like that or only when you touch the brakes?

that looks awesome but i think i will make mine light up with the brakes. The way i'm gonna do it is to add 2 more 19" lights to the bottom of the bar. The 19"s will stay of until the brakes are applied so that when i do hit the brakes it will get even brighter. Not sure as to when i wil have time to do this though.

Dude! That is exactly what I was thinking today. They are going to be telling other Aurora people they know and they won't know what the hell is going. They will be tearing off their rear panel and trying to change the bulbs.
