I hate to be the one to break the news but it's snakeoil. Frankly, it's just a restriction in your intake path.

Indeed. To boot, your screen on the MAFS will take the "Tornadic Air" and make it straight again.

Frankly, it's just a restriction in your intake path. agreed. this is just like the "turbonator" which claims to give up to 35 hp. consider this: the high end electric "superchargers" with 40-50amp motors generate 1psi of boost. 1psi. that's it, for 50amps. so, a piece of plastic that produces no boost increases power how? by blocking and further resrticing airflow? i don't think so. snake oil indeed.

I'm not going to cancel my order... I'm actually excited to try it out. It's a cheap mod and it can't hurt anything. I'm not expecting a lot and with gas prices up to $2.80 I think it will be worth a try... I only paid $44 shipped. They only advertise an average 1-2 mpg increase... Doesn't seem too unbelievable to me. No where on the TORNADO site does it say up to 35 HP gain like the other site below. I hope you guys aren't comparing it to this... turbonator.com/

Drive easier and you'll get better than 1-2mpg. I don't think it will make much of a difference but it's only 45 bucks so what the he....ll. that $45 is a tank of gas and some for your lawnmower too. that cost will not be recovered with a piece of plastic that claims to give you better gas milage. it cannot and will not. the comment regarding driving easier will help much more. turn the power button off. shift into neutral on long idles. don't use the ac as much or the rear defogger. accelerate gentrly and don't spin the wheels. this car is rated at 27mpg highway. it has a 4.0L V8 and weighs 3800lbs. for that displacement and the amount weight we're talking about, it's pretty good gas milage. if you want better, you're gonna have to go out and buy a 4 cylinder with half the horsepower. you would probably be in the low to mid 30mpg with that. i don't belive the toyota prius can actually normally do more than 40mpg although it's rated at 60something. the old toyota supras and mazda rx-7 were both 24mpg highway. if it was possible to make this engine 28 or 29mpg by sticking a piece of plastic in it, why didn't the GM egineers do it years and years ago? because it isn't possible.

When you install that thing you better put it after the MAF screen, if there is room to, or it will absolutely do nothing. If you don't know what I'm talking about there's a screen in the inlet of the MAF that looks like a very compact honeycomb pattern and it will just smooth the air right out after the Tornado makes it into a cone, thus reversing any effect from the Tornado.

Roop... It's made of stainless steel, not plastic.
Why hasn't GM thought of this you ask? Maybe because Tornado has a patent on it. Why hasn't GM thought of a lot of things???
I never thought you guys would get so worked up just becausr I'm trying to save on gas.

Even with all the negative posts I'm still anxious to receive my Tornado. It's not being negative, it's being realistic, the thing won't even have a chance of working unless its placed after the MAF screen and I doubt that is even possible with the existing space available. So what is the point of even trying it? FYI my dad put a tornado in his 99 Dodge Dakota and it made absolutely no difference at all.

I just sent the company that makes the Tornado this e-mail... I wonder what they'll say.
I own a 1997 Aurora and I recently ordered a Tornado. I haven't received it yet, but I have a question. On my particular car where exactly should I install the Tornado? I'm asking you this because of the things people keep saying to me about your product... "When you install that thing you better put it after the MAF screen" "Frankly, it's just a restriction in your intake path." "To boot, your screen on the MAFS will take the "Tornadic Air" and make it straight again." "why didn't the GM egineers do it years and years ago? because it isn't possible." Thanks! Jeff

Nearly everybody is the knocking the Toronado. How many of you guys have actually tried one? I have one in my '95 GMC K1500 and although I figure my mileage went up a mere 1.5 mpg there is a very distinctive increase in bottom end power.
A second point I'd like to make is that NAPA Auto Parts (Canada Division) has tested these units and has ordered that ALL of their delivery vehicles have one installed. The reasoning is, of course, increased fuel mileage. In a 2001 S-10 with the 2.2 litre engine the actual average fuel mileage increased from 21 mpg to 24 mpg. That strikes me as somewhat significant in this age of ever increasing fuel costs.
The only reason that I know the facts on the NAPA vehicle are accurate is because I manage a NAPA store and the results were from our delivery vehicle.
