Hmm, i think its in my glove compartment, i'll have to check (i'll take a picture if i find it), i should be goin' to the track again mid september for the audio competition in Racine, WI. although with this misfire and an extra 25,000 miles, i don't expect to do as well.

Thought I'd use a horsepower calculator to determine horsepower at the front wheels (HPFW) and at the flywheel (HPF). Here is the link to the calculator that I used:

Gen 1 Aurora's have a curb weight of 3966 lbs. I added a driver of 200 lbs and 10 gallons of gas at 60 lbs. Total was rounded up to the nearest 50 lbs or 4250 lbs. I don't know the exact weight of the cars or their drivers so I had to guess...

Gen 2 Aurora's have a curb weight of 3880 lbs. Doing the same as above, I used 4150 lbs.

Edit: updated Rear wheel to Front wheel...

Curb weights are with all fluids, so gasoline is already included in that.

I thought 18% for driveline loss was a bit generous for a 4T80? Thought it was more...

well, i just got back from the track, kinda dissapointed, i ran about .2 slower than before, but whatever. i went and bought a K&N cone filter before i went to the track. anyways, my best time is:

my car was running very inconsistent, the misfiring was very noticable. i did make another run very similar to my best though, my R/T on that one was .320 which i was pretty happy with.

Supa thats a nice video. A little shaky but good for a digital camera. Did you beat that MR2 with the fart can? It looks like you did but i cant tell for sure.

One thing sweet though, I could hear your exhaust screaming towards the end of the run with my headphones. Was that straight pipes or the dynomax super turbos?

Also a 15.8 is NOT BAD at ALL. I hope i can make that.

Its a shame you had the misfire too, that sucks.

Did you leave it in 2nd gear or just overdrive and floor it? Or did you brake torque to 1500"?

Btw, why did you reverse?

hah, thats good, its a little faint at the end, but you can just barely make it out, yeah, i beat him, he ran a 16.090. heh, i reversed cause i went past the stage lights, i did that two times. and that would be straight pipes, i need to change my signiture.

i did have it in 2nd gear, i didn't break torque, i tried, and i did .3 sec worse.

the wierd thing that i forgot to meantion, i took off my airbox and i did .5 sec worse than my best time. i was hoping i could get more runs in, after my 4th run it started raining, i might go back next weekend though

Don't forget that you now have AF wheels that weigh more. BTW, they look really good and recomfirmed for me that 18's will look darn good. The GXP's I want look very similar, as my search for Magnum SRT-8 wheels is turning up fruit-less.

well, I don't post here often, need to change that. anyway, tonite was the last nite for drag racing for the 2005 season so I figured I'd take the aurora out one last time. I won 2nd place in FWD class (bracket racing). I lost to a grand am due to a double breakout. here's a scan of the timeslip of that run which happens to be a personal best with this car.

Thx, I had a 15.6 run last year but I don't count it as the best because i wasn't on the brakes like this time. I have a set of performance mufflers i have yet to install. the only shop i went to so far to get the rest of the piping bent was talking about $400, and I said to hell with that. I have yet to look elseware tho, will probably do that over this winter season.

another thing about the track run that I forgot to add was, Traction off, and 18-1900rpm launch.

Alright, there's something. How did you get to 1800rpm powerbraking? I've tired everything and can only muster about 1350. Maybe mine doesn't have the balls to spin the TC to 1800?

I can get 1600rpm out of mine but it makes loud noises when you hammer the gas from powerbraking. I dont do it anymore.

New Times,

OOOOWWWWWW!!!! I have a 15 sec car!!!! Ran two 15.9s, one in D Trac On, one in 2nd Trac Off. Launched both times almost identically with equal wheelspin/hop. Though with it in 2nd, chirpped the tires into 2nd gear. The D, On, pass resulted in a slower 60 foot but higher mph and quicker time (15.91 @ 87.17mph). The car was about 200 for the 15.91 pass and 180 for the 2nd, Off, pass (15.94 @ 86.09)

Finished my C.A.I. box before I headed to the track. Was also 59 degrees. Hard to say which helped more. Just really happy. I also had about 1/2 a tank of gas. I fueled up last Wed. not thinking of going back this week and wasn't going to blow 60 bux on a tank again.

Genopsyde, just punching it from idle. I didn't powerbrake. Was already getting a decent amount of wheelspin, and my 60-foot where impressive, 2.37 and 2.35. I'm starting to think torque management kicks in on this things. My third run, I chirped the 1-2 shift and my E/T and mph slowed down at 1/4 mi., even though 60ft, 330 ft, were faster and 1/8 mi. was almost equal. I didn't get a chance for a 4th run, I was going to powerbrake on that run. I wanted to get some base runs first.

Steven, I don't have a digital camcorder, but I think my friend's friend might that I could use. I need to take some sound clip ones to help explain the new air intake sound. Or do you mean some drag strip vids? Could do that. Then you could see how far ahead a 11 sec. Evo is or 13 sec T/A.

I guess the tranny was rebuilt properly (knocks on wood). Look back at the times... Besides Bob's, I have the fastest 60 foot times (dunno what Geny ran). Needless to say I was pretty shocked.
