If you have changed the wheels on your Aurora, please provide as much detail as you can on them. That way we can have sort of a "ultimate" thread on wheel upgrades. Please try to post as much info as you can, including: - Type of wheel
- Size of wheel (height and width)
- Offset or backspacing of wheel
- Size of tires you fitted
- Bolt pattern
- How well do they fit? Rubbing? Stick out?
- How did it affect the ride?
Please also feel free to include anything else you think is relevant, and a photo if you'd like. If you want to include lots of photos, please make all but one of them clickable links, not inline photos, to reduce the effort to scroll through the thread. Also, feel free to edit your post with any updates on your opinion of them, happiness with them, problems encountered, or whatever. And please keep any discussion of wheel options and such in other threads. Let's just keep this full of what has been done, and what worked and didn't work. Thanks!

I had all chrome 20 inch wheels. - Made by Enkie, called Kapone
- Size 20X8.5
- same off set as stock's/OEM's
- Tires were Nitto Extreme NT555
- Bolt pattern were 5X115 or 5.5
- They fitted like a glove, no rubbing even when turning.
- The ride was good, you felt the asphalt a bit more but they were good.
Tip of the day, Keep 'em clean and make sure you don't take your car through one of those automatic car washes, were the car get's rolled through and you have to place the vehicle on neutral, I got lazy once and took my old Intrigue to one of those places, they really did not damage the chrome wheels that much, But they use some spinning brush like thing that is suppose to clean the side wall of your tires, But instead since I had a low pro tire it got on the lip of the wheel and you could almost see the hair line scratches left by that brush. So moral of the story, don't go through them automatic carwashes, take it to a hand carwash place. Here is what my wheels and tires look like,

Great thread 40! On my '96, I used OEM 300C polished aluminum wheels and tires.- Wheel Size: 17" x 7"
- Tire Size: 215-65-16
- Offset: -22mm
- Bolt Pattern: 5x115mm
These wheels look great on the classic IMO. However, the tires are only 215 wide as opposed to the stock 235s. Asthetically, it's not too bad, as the extent of the tires' narrowness is pretty much only visible from the rear of the car. Don't get me wrong, they don't quite look like bicycle tires under there, but they do look a tad too skinny. Despite the narrowness, they actually look perfect in the fenders. The 22mm offset brings them out farther than the OEM wheels and puts them flush with the fenders, instead of slightly inset. I love the tires; They are the Continental Conti-touring self sealing tires that come on the 300Cs. The only issue I've had is that my speedo and fuel economy data is now slightly askew as a result in the increase of overall tire hieght. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the purchase, and most people think they look slick too. I think this definitely a good, inexpensive way to upgrade the look of the classic and end up with a brand new set of tires if you can find a set of factory take-offs for a few hundred bucks, as I did. Well here's mine, great idea by the way. B.S.A. 291 Chrome 18x7.5 (5-114.3 Bolt Pattern) 35 offset Continental ContiSportContact 255-45/18ZR on the rear and 245-45/18ZR on the front everything fits awesome, just as meantioned before, for the ride it's about the same but potholes are more noticeable.

[glow=red,2,300]2001 Olds Aurora 3.5
Player 717 20" Chrome rims with a DEEP LIP The tires are 245's. They fit perfect with no rubbing. I paid 1900 for the wheels, tires, and labor.
Whats affected is my miles per gallon, braking, and performance...[/glow]

Am I the only Classic with the 2001+ rims? Can I still post here? Sorry bout the large pics to anyone with a 56k. The 2nd gen rims are wrapped with a set of Dunlop Sport A2's (235/55-17). I like the tires a lot. Very grippy rain or shine, but a tad noisier than my Turanza LS-H's on my Classic rims. I don't mind it though. Rims have AIOx1 and SGx4

20 inch RVM, Black with machined lip, chrome center cap, chrome lugs.
Tires are Kumho SPT 255/35/20 y rated
Bolt pattern is 5x115
The overall fit was great, no rubbing when driving or turning. Same overall tire height as OEM.
The ride is good, although I do feel the pavement a bit more, the cars overall ride seems to have a much sportier feel to it.

Tires: Kumho 255/45R18's ECSTA ASX 'W' (168MPH) rated 27.035" overall height (vs. stock 235R60-16 of 27.1") 10" overall width (stock was 9.25") Traction= A Temp rating= A Treadwear= 420 (silica compound) INCREDIBLE tires! Dry, Wet, Snow... been driving high perf. since 1977, this is amazing. Can't be beat for performance vs. dollar... I'm amazed. (sorry if I sound repetitious) Wheels: Boss 318 series, 18x8, chrome finish 5x115mm 42mm offset, vs. factory 52mm (factory tire was 235mm wide, these are 255mm, split the 20mm difference makes the 10mm wheel offset difference about perfect) They do not stick out, VERY flush with side of car, zero rubbing. However, the new stance now "WANTS" to be about 2" lower... got to look into that now. Wheel comments - only 'negative' is that since they are a very 'open' design, they hold onto a lot of snow and cause some imbalance during winter. I wanted the openness to give better view of the drilled/slotted cryo-treated rotors, and epoxy white painted calipers with PF carbon pads... which are awesome by the way. CRYO-TREAT those drilled/slotted rotors!! I've had too many rotors warp after a few... shall we say "extreme velocity" braking sessions. These things DO NOT fade... they are almost scary-good. Ride affected? - YES! Wonderfully. While my ultimate goal was "moderation" (after all, I am a pastor), and trying to maintain a somewhat "factory-ish" look on the wheels (6-spoke, yet FAR more "open"), the profile of these tires did exactly what I hoped. Increased steering response, yet the tar strips do not jar my teeth. My boss has the '07 STS-4 Cadillac with 45 series, and it felt just right... now my Rora handles like it looks. (just wish for slightly quicker steering ratio) I'm 47, and 20" rims was too much for me... but these 18's look like what Olds should have used from the factory... if it were lowered about 1.5 to 2". Not saying 20's are bad... on some cars they are really sick (in a good way)... but not on my White Diamond girl. I'll upload a picture later... if I remember. Factory chrome rims available. (Send a PM if interested)

I guess I never did add my wheel "upgrade" to this thread. Set of 4 BF Goodrich Scorcher TA 255/50/R17 for seasonal use only. I have found them to be incredibly sticky in the heat, as they look similar to F1 grooved tires. The inner half of the tires has sipes for some handling when the tires are cold. My seasonal rims are off a 2000 Bonneville SSEi, 6 spoke OE chrome, coined "swoops". I purchased 2001 SSEi center caps with the center "lug". The black center with Pontiac dart was professionally painted over this past winter and sealed with several layers of clear coat. In the winter I use Kumho KW11 225/60/16's on factory aluminum rims and after one winter season, I've been very happy.

Turanza's are great tires. I have 235/60 16 Brigestone Turanza LS-H on both 96 Blk and 97 Wht also on the Cadi. 225/60 16 Brigestone Turanza LS-V's on 2nd gen 2001. These tires make all the diff in how these cars should handle. The LS series have now bin replaced by the "with Serenity Technology" The Tire Rack is a great place to compare tires. www.tirerack.com/

question for ya guys..
I have noticed the odd person here has 114.3 bolt pattern rims installed now even though the stock size is 115.. I have tried doing some research and some people say they fit but dont do it as you might have problems like vibrations or lugs snapping down the road.. Others say there is no problem at all..
Can anyone who has 114.3 rims installed comment.. or anyone who knows alot about this subject let me know as I am going to get some 19" rims but alot of the ones i like are only available in 114.3 not 115
thanks alot
ps once i get rims i will list what they are and a photo or 2 of them on here (I am a newbie.. just sold my grand am gt and got an aurora with 88,000km on it but i hate the factory rims with a passion hahaha

I ran my 20 inch wheels on my Chrysler Special M which has the bolt pattern 5X114.3 or 5 on 4.5 with no problems at all.
As many of you know my chrome wheels were originally bought and used for my former Aurora with a bolt pattern of 5X115 or 5 on 5.
