My name is zach see ZACH spelled with a big fat H not a K not that theres anything wrong with K because we all really love K. K? anyways, I get out of school June seventh, as scotty stated school is a bit of a pain to work around, even with the weekends open. A mid-late June would work well. especially cuz IM GOING THIS YEAR.

I'm going to the two main competitions with Jayhawk Motorsports this summer, those are my only real scheduling conflicts. I'll be in Detroit May 11-18 (Thats actually DURING finals for me, lol) and in California June 15-22. The travel time isn't set in stone... I'm leaving two days open to get to Cali in time but I may need to leave on the 14th, in which case the second weekend in June wouldn't work for me. It looks like the 26th-27th-28th would be best.
The second thing to consider is when we're going to arrive. I was thinking that the Mid-Midwesters could get up there late friday night. Leave around 4, get there at midnight. If I left Saturday at 8am, we wouldn't get there until 4. I guess we could leave really early Saturday... If I left Lawrence at 6 then we could meet in St. Louis by 10 and get to Aurora by 2ish. What do you guys think? Randy? Lance?
The THIRD thing to consider is that Phoebe (My Garmin) wants me to go straight through Des Moines on my way to Aurora... is there anyone from the Iowa area going to the meet? It would cut an hour off my commute if I went up through Des Moines instead of to St. Louis to meet up with Randy and Lance. The buddy system needs to be utilized for at least part of the way... if there's only one Aurora headed up from Springfield then I'll go that way. If Randy and Lance both make it, then I may go the Iowa route if there's someone up there I can meet up with. Sorry guys, I know this is a lot. It IS a planning thread though, right?
Hey Tyler, yes my name does have an S on the end. Collins is my grandpa's last name, I was named after him. Weird, I know! ;D

Also, from my grandfather. I am in Iowa, I could meet up with you either in Cedar Rapids or Iowa City (I80 runs right through Iowa City). So, if you're interested in coming up that route I'd be happy to meet up with you on your trip through, we'll just have to coordinate the time/place to meet and everything. Like I said, as far as getting the time off, it's no problem with me. If you want to come on Friday afternoon and hit IC in the early evening, that works for me. We can get that planned out no problem. Let's just try to get these dates solid. I know that theres a guy named "austinator" on here that's from the Quad Cities but I haven't seem him post recently, no idea if he would be attending or not.

It all depends on how the situation works out with the Springfield gang. It would be great to cut an hour off my commute, but I can't leave Randy hanging on an 8 hour trip without a buddy! Thanks for the offer, there's a good chance I'll take you up on that. If I take the upper route I go right through Iowa City, so that would be perfect! We'll get it nailed down soon, no worries.

Also, from my grandfather. Everyone is named for their Grandfather, I think that is really nice I wasn't named for my Grandfather but my hubby was named after his....his middle name is Erwin I think he has you both beat ;D I wanted to name my son my maiden name which is used as a first name too, instead we gave him his dads first name (which is also his Grandpas middle name) as a middle name. ;D did you keep up with that ;D OK back to the meet.....I'm good whenever

The end of June is not good for me, my daughters Birthday is on the 27th. And I also will have rent soon after that. I will do what I can, though!

I know we wanted to do this early, but it seems there's a problem there lol. The way I see it we either have to do the last week in May or wait until the 2nd week in July. I know we have kids graduating school and stuff the last week in may, but do you think you could swing it out to meet with us?

Personally, I think that we should try to swing it as close to Spring time as possible. The reason I say that is because if we kind of develop a bi-annual tradition of having one every spring-ish and one every fall-ish, then people will have two opportunities a year to come.

so does that mean that June is beginning of summer? Because if this is so than Junes no good apaerently. And I believe that I go on spring break in late march or early april. This is becoming a ginormous headache, But there is no way that I being a student can make it during a weekend of school. And a fall meet would not work either

Well, obviously I hate to be the one to schedule it at a time when some people aren't going to be able to attend, but we just aren't going to be able to find a date where EVERYONE can get on board. Judging by the voting, the most feasible dates are the end of June. Based on that, I say that we shoot for the weekend of the 26th, 27th, and 28th. I'm willing to spend the whole weekend, camp out both Friday and Saturday and leave in the early afternoon Sunday. That means that some of you Illionois people who might not be able to make the whole thing you could at least stop by at some point during the weekend. All in favor, say I.

that sounds good to me, makes my decisions much easier for my vacation times. Ill go to the one next year that way I wont be as tight on money or anything esle as im sure its going to cost my wallet quite a bit to make it there and back as I gotta have an oil change before I leave and shortly after I come back

The problem is that it's not far enough into the future- people already have plans made. I say we shoot for July 10th, 11th, and 12th or something, and people can plan around the meet instead of planning the meet around other things.
I'm definitely with you, Tyler. It would be neat to develop a bi-annual tradition, but with kids getting off school in the spring and kids going to school in the fall there's too much going on. I think it would make more sense to have one big meet in the summer that everyone could come to!
I definitely don't mean to make you the bad guy lol, I agree with you as far as what the ideal situation would be. When I think practically tho, a summer meet makes the most sense.
Thoughts, anyone?

I voted for "do not care". With numerous people coming from numerous states, this is the kind of event where a date just needs to be picked. Whoever can make it can make it, and whoever can't can't. The bigger it gets, the more it won't be realistic or possible to consider everyone's individual circumstances. Even better would be to pick a specific weekend, and have it that same time every year. "Last weekend in June", "Second weekend in July", something like that. One exception, at least this year since it's only our "2nd Annual" event. Since oldsnut is the within miles of Aurora, IL, it would probably help to pick a weekend when he is available to help us work out the local details. If he's cool with that.

Well that makes sense to me. It seems to me like we're down to the last weekend of June or the second weekend of July. Makes sense to me. Like I said, either one. Let's make a new poll with only those two options and lock it in, how does that sound??
