sooooo I went ahead and put in valvoline maxlife 75k and higher synthetic oil today. (after I got done rounding off the oil pan bolt) and I must say that so far no problems, Along with new oil cooler lines I have noticed no oil leaks or consumption (even though 4 hours worth of new oil isnt really going to give me sure footed results) I also splurged on a fram oil filter for over 75K miles with time realease additives! total with ten quarts of oil and filter, $32.78, the local mechanic charges $49.00 just for a synthetic, and they use valvoline also!

Are you sure he put synthetic in it? Seems $32.78 wouldn't even cover the cost of the oil. If he did use syn oil, you def got a good deal.

The oil was on sale for 14.00 per 5 quarts! and the oil filter was 3.00. I went ahead and just bought ten quarts. My average oil change with regular oil is 29.99 for 7 quarts. SO if I only spend an extra three dollars than I am proud of myself!

I used synthetic for baout 6k miles when I first got the car. I than became short on the cash and went back to regular cheap brand. SO now ive been running this new synthetic for about 200 miles. Must say not a drop of oil yet!

So, were you losing a 1/2qt-1qt before oil changes with conventional? Now that you are using synthetic no leaks?

So, were you losing a 1/2qt-1qt before oil changes with conventional? Now that you are using synthetic no leaks? Well you also need to remember that he changed some oil lines and such. So, that could have been some of his previous problem. I'm running Valvoline Max Life as well, put it in the last 3 oil changes and no problems. Some oil consumption but nothing massive.

So, were you losing a 1/2qt-1qt before oil changes with conventional? Now that you are using synthetic no leaks? I had a massive oil leak and was losing on average 1-2 quarts a week. New oil cooler lines, oil change, and new drain plug later not a single drip!

i just bought 10 quarts of MaxLife, and an STP oil filter, for right around $30. MaxLife is a Synthetic blend, which is likely why it's not as much as full synthetic. everything i've heard about it has been good, so i'm giving it a go.

bojanks I doubt you will be displeased, I must say this oil is really holding up well, as far as I can tell anyways.
