So here's the story:
as you may not know, I play guitar. On Wednesday, a week ago, I was just enjoying playing "Georgia on my mind" (really beautiful song), when all my family went to Grodzisk (about 7 miles away) to a doctor. Suddenly my mother phoned me: "The Aurora's broken. Take the Tico - keys are in the cabinet next to the computer - come here and take us home."
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Since she didn't tell me anything more, I went there ASAP to see what really happened. When I arrived my dad told me that when he turned the engine on it was vibrating for a few seconds. Then he shifted into reverse, started going out of the parking place and wanted to brake, but the brake pedal was stiff. Then he thought: "alright, something is wrong - let's park once more and turn the engine off and on again", so he shifted into "Drive" and pushed the throttle a bit, but nothing happened, just like someone disconnected it from the engine, and then the engine stopped... They had to push her back in the parking place (which wasn't easy without power steering).
She officially died, so we ordered a tow truck - the guy said, he'll come to get her on saturday because he's really busy. I went there with my dad on saturday morning to see what will the mechanic say. We arrived before the tow truck so we tried to start her, just in case she healed herself feeling lonesome and wanting to get back to warm garage and... she started after third attempt (like she usually does after sitting for more than 24 hours)! We were both really happy, but decided to take her to the mechanic on monday nevertheless.
Unfortunately I was in school on monday, so my dad went there alone. And even more unfortunately this was the third mechanic that told us: "These are two tones of junk!". He was also the first one to say: "I suggest stopping waisting your money on the repairs of this particular Aurora. I mean I can fix her, but there are loads of other things that will likely break in few months/weeks." She also is making an irritating, high noise, which matches the rpms. He said that it could be the power steering pump or something more serious. My dad was told to left him the Aurora and come back in the evening.
After checking the pump (he had one lying around accidentally) it turned out, that it wasn't the problem and that this noise comes from the engine and she's losing oil and the engine has to be replaced/rebuild which will cost me 8-9k zł (I paid 10,5k for her)!!! Of course if that would be it I wouldn't give up - I would save money and rebuild the engine in the future. But right now I'm not working yet (still going to polish equivalent of high school), which means that I'm not earning any money and my parents are the ones, who pay for almost every repair. And they're also the ones who said that at the moment we can't afford it and I can either keep her and repair when I will earn enough money, or sell her and that's what they suggest.
Of course I know that if I would keep her, she would break down even worse, because of not being driven and that's why I didn't know what to do. But still - we need another car and don't have enough space to keep two saloon cars. The Aurora could probably stand somewhere out, but that would finally destroy her...
So now she's for sale I hope to find somebody who'd love her at least 1/4 as much as i do, which is not that unlikely, hopefully...
