The plan is to leave the city tomorrow morning (currently 10:45pm) at approximately 5am. I will be going to Panorama Mountain Village for the weekend. I am meeting up with a group from Edmonton called the Downhill Riders. They basically arrange party buses from Edmonton to all the mountains in the region. It was very cheap ($200 for the whole weekend - average lift ticket is $80 in the area) and includes accommodations in a hotel! I chose to drive instead of the bus. I want to get some extra days of riding in (Friday and Monday - The bus gets there at midnight on Friday and leaves at 2pm on Sunday!) The road conditions are getting worse by the hour and I am nothing but excited! I fear no snow! The 'roara will power through any weather! It should take about 6 hours maybe a little more depending on how bad it gets. I just fueled up and topped off all the fluids, the tire pressure is good on all 4 tires. GPS in the car and the starter/alarm are working perfect. All aces from here Round-trip is about 740 miles. Map for the trip. I will have the DSLR in the car and my point and shoot on the hill. I will post any pics I take along the road.

That is true, the Aurora kicks some butt in the snow. She thinks she a big truck in the snow and can take anything. The only thing I have with the Aurora's is getting in and out of my driveway if we are burried in snow. Well have fun and enjoy your ride with your lovely Aurora gal which Im sure you will.

Thanks guys! The trip was AWESOME!!! The car handled as if it were on rails through the icy roads. - I ♥ Nokian Hakkapeliitta Tires!!! I averaged about 65mph (100km/h) through the thickest and nastiest of ice patches and through 6" snowdrifts to pass the less fortunate lol The skiing was epic for opening weekend. We took 3 chair lifts to the top of the mountain and then hiked about 30 minutes to a "bowl" that was untouched. 4.5' of powder and my point and shoot died on the first attempted picture! My friend Jessica did manage to take some pics tho! Devils Drop had a 25' Cliff jump - Not enough snow to attempt it..YET I won't be snowboarding again until the new year!

We had an awesome adventure. The drive home was the hardest part, we were both exhausted beyond belief - And regarding the tint, thanks a lot! ( 20% all around but I know I don't need to tell you that!) Its the most often received compliment on the car that I get, next to the summer rims. I highly recommend the Nokian tyres if you are going for strictly winter tyre. Specifically Hakkapeliitta. They are by far the best winter rubber I have had the pleasure of navigating next to a studded tyre. I did pay a fortune for them but really, who can put a price tag on safety? see any moose or buffalo? Lance, a couple of mountain goats, nothing noteworthy

Most definitely
The cops here only use it as a weapon. If you are a *******, or if you were being stupid they will add it to the pile but they won't just pull you over for illegal tint. There are much more important things to be concerned about than tint on grandpas aurora. I have sat at many lights next to cops at night and have thought nothing of it.

It is a $150 ticket here now. Initially was $75 and they gave the ticket out to any younger punk looking kid, but since it doubled they have really laid off the tinting tickets - They know everyone will fight it in court - so instead of bogging down the legal system they choose to be "nice".
Worst case scenario you have a $150 ticket. Many times the officer (if treated respectfully) will accept a "trade" if you remove the tint on the front windows in a time frame (usually 3 days) then he will tear up the ticket. I guess it pays to be nice when you get pulled over. And on the flip side I have seen police make a kid scrape his windows in front of the officer.
Either way. For the sake of looks, 100% worth it in my books

I decided that I didn't need a new thread, even though these are completely separate events, they are pretty much the same event. So this weekend I drove to a place called Kicking Horse Mountain/Resort This is a resort meant for advanced skiing and snowboarding. No amateurs! We left Friday morning at 4am and arrived in B.C around 10am. (650km ~400miles). We checked into our Hotel and the hostess asked us why we were in town when they got 8" of snow overnight on the hill. We immediately drop everything, put all our snowboarding gear on and head to the resort! 24 hours later it snowed a total of 16" in 48 hours. It was an epic weekend to say the LEAST. By far one of the best trips I have ever had snowboarding in 16 years! The view from town: I took it from the car while I was driving, sorry its not level
