Fellow member, Madtuner has confirmed that he can properly, and successfully provide PCM tunes for the 96-99 and 01-03 Oldsmobile Aurora. The tune can/will increase fuel mileage, along with power. Gains have NOT been dynoed, yet.
I will let madtuner better explain this, but from my understanding, the tune can change shift points, fan turn on temps, and timing. He has offered a 50 dollar discount per customer for 6+ orders. Or 75 dollars per customer for 12+ orders. (an additional 20 if you choose to send money order, rather than paypal.)
Respond in this thread if you are in deed interested. I will post more information as Madtuner informs us.
After speaking with Madtuner, I can share with you what he shared with me. Keep in mind, the pricing listed below is only with the group buy of 12 or more. So add 25 to the price for <12.
He has not been able to test an adjustment to shift firmness. Which is something he is still planning on doing.
Once we have an estimated group turn out. we will set a due date.

i am definitely interested, but i just dont have the money for it right now. i would be better off doing it over the summer. the mpg gains would definitely help driving to and from school.

Let's set the cutoff time for May 15th. You don't have to send in your PCM by that date, you just need to make the payment by then. If a number is reached before then, we can start early.
I guess I should list one restriction - no E85 tuning.
Since this will be an ACNA GP, if your tuned vehicle is not an Aurora, you would have had to be a member of the forum on April 1st to participate.
Everyone involved will need to specify the method of tune delivery. Available options:
Mailing in my original PCM
Mailing in spare
Purchasing spare PCM from Madtuner (+75.00)
Cable deposit (+250.00 refundable deposit). Benchtop harness needed for 2nd generation 4.0Ls. Software requires Windows XP/Vista/7/8 PC with .NET Framework 4.0 installed.

Please PM me your delivery method as well as year, make and model and any type of special tuning requests you might have (in the event that I might not support something at the moment and I need to prioritize it). I would appreciate solid commitments only, since other members may depend on your decision.

IIRC, a tune for the 3.5L will be available. I'm interested to know more about what will be gained/changed by the tune.
Is there any way we can make our own cable?

The tune for a 3.5L will be a flat $150.00 + shipping if we have a minimum of 6 purchases. Any changes such as shift points/firmness, fans, limiters are available. The 3.5L gained about 7 front wheel horsepower on the dyno with premium gas, which is about 9 HP. The cable is not something you would be able to build yourself and the software is licensed to each cable separately.

Sounds good to me. Now as far as options for tuning. Some of us may not know aol the basic options for a tune. Is there somewhere on your website that shows what a basic tune consist of for our PCM?? Or could you list them here for folks, so when there ready to order they can include all that information when they PM you.

Once the group purchase is finished, everyone will be asked to fill out and submit one of these: www.madtuner.com/order.phpYou don't have to worry about the intricacies of the power or economy tuning. I will do the best I can for either of those, I just need to know the octane you run. Other offered options are included on the sheet. If you have a request that is not on the sheet, it should be placed in the comments box. For example "I want the low speed fans to turn on at 200* F and high speed fans to turn on at 210*F."

Considering the number of people who might be interested in this who might not frequent the "performance" section (Maybe from a gas mileage standpoint only), does anyone think it might be a good idea to make a reference to this in some of the other sections?

No not really. When you first come to the website and log in, at the top of the screen you will see a tab with a star next to it that says "new topics" that's the tab you press to see the latest updated or trending threads.

There are a lot of forums that I simply never look in, regardless of whether new posts are there. For example I rarely go to Products and Services. If the thread about the PCM was in there, I'd never see it.
Personally, I don't have time to look at every new thread. I go to the main topics that interest me (i.e. "Performance", "General Discussion", "2nd Gen. Maintenance) and get out.
I'm sure there are many others who do the same thing only "Performance" isn't one of their "favs".
My reason for suggesting it in the first place was to try and get as many people interested as possible....maybe get the add'l price discount due to more orders...

It's been posted at the top of every sub forum. For the time being that should suffice.

That's interesting, for some reason I have not used that button before. When I log in I scroll down to "50 most recent posts" and that's how I see the latest info. Here and there I check all sections to move threads that are out of place. Now back to our story....

Sent from my XT901 using proboards Since you wanted to do the cable option, I'd have to mail you a refund check anyway for the cable deposit so I can include the refund into it. If you are mailing in your PCM or a spare, you can just send in the discounted amount for 6 people and I will mail a check for the difference in case it goes over. You can send me an e-mail at support@madtuner.com directly for more details.

I would be interested, but I have some questions.. I use mine as a daily driver, so is there a way it can be done without sending it in? Also if you have a spare, must it have (or not have)the autobahn package like the one to be used? Then can this tune be reversed into stock again? One more, if there is an optimal tuning for horsepower and shifting, why doesn't it get tuned that way from the factory? -Thanks

They don't care how much power an engine can produce. They only care how much it can produce while fitting with-in the regulations the EPA sets for the automakers.

So based on the slowed activity in this thread, are we to assume that the 5 people listed are all that are ready to commit at this time?
It's hard to believe that's it.
With the number of people who have griped and complained at the lack of availability, you'd think more people would want to jump at the option, now that it's available.
