The problem is not all of us have the money to throw $300 into our cars. I am a college student living on limited funds and I can't afford to put that kind of money into one item for my car. Don't get me wrong, I am definitely interested, I just can't do it at this time. If we had a later end date, I possibly could because then I would be out of school and working a summer job.

The tuning with the group purchase for your car would be $250.00 or $225.00 respectively (depending on the number of purchases), not $300.00. $250.00 is roughly the equivalent of 62.5 gallons of gas. If your average is 22 MPG, that is 1375 miles. If you gained only 2 MPG with a tune, you will recoup your money in ~13.8k miles. I wouldn't call that "throwing money" and the MPG improvement is just one dimension of a custom tune. I fully realize the financial aspect is an important consideration for many owners of these cars, but very few people appreciate just how much work and time went into developing all of this. Even if I charged $500.00 for a custom calibration, I would still never recover that time and effort. So please consider that aspect as well. kersch, currently we only have a total of 4 people committed: 98redaurora awehlage kersh renaldo0613

Oops, you're right.
I didn't notice that one was listed as "uncommitted".

Ion... you can consider me as a committed and already tuned customer.
I didn't have time to sit around and wait for each and every person to commit to the tune. This is our family car and the only on ewe can fit the car seat in. There are only a day here and there that i can disable my car, so i sent it in early for no hassle.
If anyone has questions, doubts or concerns about the tune, feel free to IM me. I am very pleased as I've stated in previous posts!

Did you know our V8s are 244 cubic inches? 442 backwards, lol. Members, correct me if I am wrong, but is this not the first ever tuned 2G@ on the forum? I recommend posting your own thread in the performance section. I am sure everyone would like to hear the details of the tuning, and your experience with your tune so far.

We're about a week away from the end of the group purchase and it is pretty clear that we will not reach 12 members and may not even have 6, but I will still do the price for the 6 to those who participated. You can place your order as soon as you wish. The last order accepted as part of the group purchase will be on the 22nd. For those who will use Paypal/CCs, you can place your order on my website and use coupon code GPAURORA on checkout to get the $50.00 discount. Everyone will need to fill out and submit one of these: www.madtuner.com/order.phpAgain, if you want something not on this sheet, please include it in the comments box. Do not e-mail those separately. If you are sending a money order, you can still place on order on the website, choose money order on checkout and use coupon code GPAURORAMO to get the additional $20.00 discount. Both coupons will expire on the 22nd. Thank you to everyone who participated.

What kind of turnaround time can we expect? Only asking to figure out how long the car would be out of service.
And to confirm, the 3.5L is $150+shipping?

Current turnaround time is about 2 days. You would get your PCM back in about a week from the day you send it. The 3.5L tune is indeed $150.00 and you can get that price using the same discount code listed above, at this link: tinyurl.com/lx5tuneIt would be neat to have a 3.5L in the GP, that way owners of both generations and both engine types can review their tune.

Sent PM - I am interested, but have some questions. Want to know more about building a bench cable and doing the work here, can we easily swap mods among the ACNA forum, if that becomes common, and can I reload my stock data later, if needed...
I am not a car geek - i am a computer geek, and love the car (I used to be a mechanic, but that was in a previous life). I am a daily driver that loves the car, and the ability to be a stealthy stop light opponent. I do not know tuning, and would not know where to begin, but I had a mod chip in my old Dodge truck for some time - it had a switch for performance or econ...
Please reply to my message, maybe we can make 6 after all.
Dan

danjcTo build the bench top power supply is not a hard task but you will also need the data cable that madtuner has to send you. There is not a way around that. I was going to load the software myself as I have the bench top setup but there is a refundable $250 deposit for madtuner to send you the data cable. That doesn't include the cost of the tune FYI. What do you drive? What do you want out of the tune? Send me a PM or email. Sent from my XT901 using proboards

I drive a 2001 (very early edition) 4.0... I do not know tuning, but would prefer gas mileage improvement, and overall performance, especially under load.

Dan,
I replied to your PM. In short, the cable I use is designed by a different manufacturer and uses a proprietary protocol, so it's not something someone could build him or herself.
Before I wrote my software, I carefully examined many existing cable designs and I ended up using this particular one (among others) because it supports high-speed VPW (the protocol used in these cars). DIY cables support low speed VPW and for a 2000 car, it would probably take 20 minutes to upload a calibration. This would have been a high risk for 2000-2003 cars as the communication protocol has not been very well implemented on them.

I would like to participate. Can I pay now and send the PCM in mid-June?
I think you have answered most of my questions.
So does this make us to 6 now?

Dan,
Yes, you can certainly do that. I will send you instructions by PM. We may still not hit 6, but I am extending the discount anyway.

I am in - would love to hear other's results when they get them back. Since I will be sending mine in a little later, and am not certain how I want to tune, any feedback would be great, so please share your results and experiences. Maybe more will buy in later - after hearing our reports!
Thanks! Dan

I just sent off a PCM for tuning (pre-paid while the group buy was on).
Thanks to awehlage for your input! Does anyone else have input - what was good, what you would do different - or impressions on their tune?
Thanks! Dan

I'm a late comer to this information. I had a question about the burn. There is a button on the shift arm. "out" for normal and "in" for performance. What does that change and will your burn do the same. "out" for normal drive and "in" for performance?
Thanks

Damn , piss poor timing on my part, I did some runs with mine and the torque app, recorded a 15.9 1/4 mile, but the 109 shutdown really disappointed me. this car has so much more in it. I would be happy with a simple speedlimiter removal any plans for another gp?
