Hello everybody,
I'm brand new to this board and Have seen numerous posts regarding blend door actuators. Specifically, cold air passenger, hot air driver. I saw some great photos showing location and removal instructions. My failed attempts at fixing this problem are listed below.
Being in my 70's and out of shape made it very difficult to work under the dash, but I am trying.

I,
1. Removed bottom cover and kick panel.
2. I believe I mistakenly removed actuator (picture #4).
3. I tested the removed (plugged in to it's connector) actuator by raising the temperature control. Turned it up to 90o, shaft turned all the way to the end. Turned it down to 60o, shaft turned all the way to the other end. That's when I realized that I probably removed the wrong actuator. I believe I should have removed actuator (picture #5), I think!
Here's where I got very confused. The google picture seems to show 3 actuators kind of next to each other. I next tried to remove what I thought was (picture #4).
When I looked at what I thought was #4, it had a different shape and looked like it had a white plastic shaft attached to another piece that came out of the air box. Also, the connector was in the center of the piece, not on the top or bottom like the other actuators that I saw on rockauto. I tried to remove this piece. After over 2 hours trying to squeeze myself in and out of all different positions, I was finally able to get three 5.5 MM screws out of this piece. The piece would not pull out of its position. I tried and tried to find a fourth screw, no dice. Again, I have the feeling that again, this is might not be the part I have to remove.
So, now I am stuck. 90o days are upon us, it's the wife's car, but until the A/C is fixed, it has become my car.
1. Am I again trying to remove the wrong part?
2. If not, is there a fourth screw? Because if there is, I can't find it.
3. Probably unrelated, but I had to replace the battery about 5 weeks ago, when the weather was still in the 40's and 50's. I did not check any of the systems. The heater, and defogger worked, so I didn't think anything about it. I read somewhere after changing the battery, on some systems you pull the HVAC fuses to reset the computer. I even tried that. No dice.
Any and all help from you great experts on this board will be greatly appreciated.
George
