Greetings all: I just bought two new keyless entry fobs for my 2001 Aurora, but the trick where you jump #4 and #8 pins on the OBD2 connector to put the car into programming mode doesn't seem to work. I jump the pins, turn the ignition key to 'on' (but not start car) and the locks should recycle from locked to unlocked to signal that I'm in programming mode. But nothing happens. I'm thinking this may only work with 1995-1999 Auroras. Here's a YouTube link that shows how it is supposed to work: www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6lr66xHdLQ&t=66sI'm well aware I may have to go to an auto locksmith or 'stealership' with a scan tool to get them programmed, but gosh darn, that will end up costing double what the brand new key fobs cost me. Here's the thread I looked at earlier on our site: aurorah.proboards.com/thread/12989But it's not totally clear if it's for Gen I or Gen II. Has anyone here found a way to program their Gen II key fobs? I would so love to do this on my own, if at all possible. Or what kind of scan tool would I need to buy to do this myself? Thanking all in advance, Greg

for 2g you need a tool to program its not same as 1g aurora but i know that Dorman sells the fob and the OBD2 programing tool with it. Make sure that your fob matching frequency of your car module there is 2 different frequency and if its wrong one no programmer will be able to program it.

Thanks Paul; I now realize this. When I called around, dealership estimates ran from $80 to $360 to program two fobs, while locksmiths ran from $110 to $180. Wonderfully, I have found a local locksmith with the right scan tool who will do both my new key fobs for me for $40. The trick is to look on Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace for local souls who want to pick up a few bucks on the side and who also have the right scan tool. Thank God.
