GM was absolutely bereft of their senses when they put the kabosh on Oldsmobile. At the very least, they could have continued the Aurora under a different brand name. The Buick Lucerne is about as close as you can get. There are even parts that are interchangeable.

Even My 2006 Cadillac DTS did not relate really to the Aurora. The Bravada and the Aurora should have continued on, because my Oldsmobiles make me happy and are great, well I love Olds period. Gm really has lost me as a customer now their cars are all boring and still cheapy.

After many years of driving Volvo's, I got a chance to buy a 2002 Aurora, from a Mitsubishi dealer, related to dealership that was an Oldsmobile dealer! My car is silver, (though the information that the VIN number shows calls it blue? Can anybody explain that?).
My car with approx 82k miles on it, runs and drives like a new car. The only thing that mine doesn't do, that a new car would, is have the new car smell! It rides perfectly, steers nicely (although then turning circle could be much smaller), and in all it a great car.
Sadly, as has happened before, GM didn't know what he had.
Did anyone notice that the '01-'03 Aurora was barely advertised. NO wonder almost no-one bought it!

I noticed no one owns a 2000 Aurora. Didn't they make them that year? No Auroras in 2000. They were retooling that year. Wasn't it in 1983 they did not make a Chevrolet Corvette for retooling and production delays/problems? Correct

Just picked up a 2001 3.5 with 66,000 miles...most options less Bose and traction control. My first Aurora...looking forward to enjoying the car and this club.

First post here at ACNA, I've got a 2001 with a 3.5. It was supposed to be a replacement for the wife's company car. She never lost the Charger (the Company car) so I've got a 2001 with 20,000 miles on it . (Yes that's the right number of zeros).

well back to what the poll is about (which we can't vote in?) i drive a '97 aurora I think that Lance, Not me the other Lance! Would agree that the classic is sleeker, has finer lines, and is over all the cooler car. Buy the way, my 97 silver bullet IS my daily driver!

Every aurora driver loves his model of aurora, I am crazy about the sensous curves of the classic, But I love the bold fascia of the 2nd gen. I'd take either gen but would prefer first gen. And It seems that firs model years seem to be dominating the rest of the field...I.E. 95 and 01!! oh well 98's will still live on as the best

I have a 95 Aurora (#00471) built in March 1994. I bought it in March 2004. 136K Gray metallic with Charcoal interior that smells like new. I baby this car and keep it garaged next to my black on black 66 Toronado. I guess you could say that I'm kind of partial to the first generations too.
Have been lurking in the background as a guest for sometime now. Finally joined up and glad to be here in the ACNA.

can't vote for some reason. 1997! "I voted for my 1998 beauty, the best year for Auroras, all other years suck. (Gotta hedge my bet here fellas) there's no difference between a '98 or a '97 or '99

You can't vote because you already voted. Not sure when, but your name is on the "poll voters" list. there's no difference between a '98 or a '97 or '99 There ARE some differences, but they are under-the-surface and fairly minor. 99 is the best. ;D

I posted something a few months ago...full length taillight, headlights within the contour of the body etc.

i agree with rob, you all are missing out on the 2nd gens. love mine, but it woulda been cool to see where GM was going to take the V8 only Aurora in 1999-2000 before they were forced to re-engineer it on short notice due to the phase out. classics look more muscular and stand out, 2nd gens have the real style in my humble opinion.
