All you Midwesters, are you all good with june 21st if I can get the Forest Preserve booked? This location is No Charge, which works for me. It is not far from I-88 and that is the beautiful Fox River in the background.

It is a Forest Preserve District site called "Les Arends" off of Rt 31 about 2 miles North of I-88. It is not a definite until I get the reservation set in stone with the County. I just need to know if this date works for everyone at this point.

FREE is the best price of all, the date works great here, and as long as we can arrange a "cruise" into Aurora with our Auroras (for some photo opportunities) then I say we take this ball and run. I'm wondering if there's any local (or other) media that we could notify who might be interested (Auroras in Aurora, etc)? You had mentioned that the lady from the city thought it was a cool idea, so I'm just thinking. I know Bonneville Club members were featured with their cars in a Pontiac magazine 4-5 years back.

I have contacted mission008 on the ACNA decals. While he can do just about anything you want, I have asked for an interior cling, clear with white lettering, approx. 2" x 6"or7" of the ACNA Logo. He quoted $10. for one and $15 for 2, but if I wanted a larger quantity he would work up a price. So if any of you (coming to the meet) are interested send me a PM (do not post here) soon. Lets take advantage of a quantity discount I would like to give him an order by May 15th.

I just got off the phone with the Kane County Forest Preserve District. The location in the pictures above has been booked by another group and my second choice is also booked already. I am still on the prowl for a spot. I really would like a forest preserve but how does everyone feel about the parking lot of Walter Payton's Rounhouse if they will let us have it there. The parking lot is very large It is a 1850's railroad roundhouse converted into a restaurant. Here is a link www.walterpaytonsroundhouse.com/index.php?load=gallery

I dont really have a roblem with any local. I just need HIGHLY detailed instructions and/or someone to follow. On another note, Around what time will this meeting/cruise be held. I imagine I can get out of here by about 8:00 in the morning seing as I have a 2 1/2 hour drive, I could be there by 10:30-11:00. And Its my belief that any coverage on our group would be nice But we need to insure that were going to have more than 5 people head up there. A cruise would be nice, I'd really like a country cruise. Maybe through older towns and through tree lined roads. These are the kind of conditions that my perssonal experience Shows the auroras were made for. Open the roof and go. So I believe I will be mapquesting and planning a route within the next couple of weeks. What things should I get done on the Rora to ensure I make it up there and back, Maybe an oil change, tranny flush, tire inspection, anything else come to mind?

Personally, I like the idea of a park (it's family friendly). A cook out, nice shade and scenery, sit back and relax and so on. However, you know the area better than any of us and we appreciate all the scouting you have done. So, I will be there, period. Let us know! just a thought, would a Sunday be better? aura1, If you are due for an oil change/transmission service, then go for it. otherwise, make sure your fluids are full and tires are inflated properly and you should be good to go. I would bet that dad will make sure your car is road worthy . I will be heading down there so I guess you can't follow me. I think it is AJ that is in your area, you should check with him. As far as a cruise, I think that was for a photo opp, maybe by a sign that says "Welcome to Aurora" if they have one . I really think there will be more than 5 of us there, we may need to hire a helicopter for our photo ;D

right well I'm tight on the bucks so a helicopter might be out of my range. A sunday or saturday would work with me. Though I would prefer a saturday seing as I would be driving back home that night. And I wouldnt have to worry about getting up for work or school the next day. It would be very luck if we could catch a sign that says welcome to aurora. And it have enough room to park cars by for the photo. I'm very excited for this. Less than two months away. Yes I imagine Daddy will have the car in top condition, only if we dont argue about the dipstick. He thinks fluids should be between min and maximum. I believe the fluid should be right at the maximum level. anyways we'll get R' done

You might be able to follow me some of the way if you would be bringing I-55 north. I don't know for sure what my travel plans are (day/time) but we'll figure it out as we get closer.
Re: location, that Roundhouse does look cool but a park still sounds nicer to me too. If my two shorties are there, a nearby playground would be a big help. I'll get ahold of our friends (also in North Aurora) and see if they know of any locations in the area.

I just found out today that sadly the 21st is not going to be able to work with me. I have a previous arrangement with the family made. Any time before (weekend) or after (weekend) that would be best. If the spot has already been reserved no biggy, just cross my name off the list.

;D OK, We will be there. But where. Has anyone got anything finalized for a show spot (Playground or otherwise). I see Aurora and the park. Please give out some directions and Date. I am sure the a lot of us want to be there. I work out of state and am only back in IL every other weekend. So I need a little advance notice. We are going to try to make MI - Nationals also, but it seems a lot for us with all of our kids. Aurora is much better suited for us. ;D Keep us posted, thanks. If there is any thing I can do to help, from long distance (I work in FL ), let me know. email me and I will do what I can. Also, I like the idea of those self stick decal logos. I will take at least 4.

Update on the location for our Midwest gathering. I tried like crazy to find a Forest Preserve to hold our meet but they are booked solid! Apparently it's the the first official day of Summer. I have gotten the OK from my buddy Nick at Payton's Roundhouse Complex in Aurora, they have given us the Green Light to hold our meet ine their lot. We will be up in the front area of the lot which has a couple of trees. The location is minutes from downtown Aurora and for those who like to gamble, there is a Casino, sorry Kay they don't do Bingo. ;D www.walterpaytonsroundhouse.com/content/2.html

Thanks to all you guys in putting this together. I have heard some great things about Payton's Place. I am looking forward to being there. I hope we get at least 20-40 Auroras there. That would be Swell. (Does anyone ever really say that, other than Clark Kent?) ;D My job is over at the Turkey Point Nuclear plant, down here in the Hot as HELL state of South Florida (Yes, they actually have a petition going around that's pretty popular, to split the state into N & S Florida) Of course while I have been down here, for the past 8 months, I have heard many times from the Southerners (from south of Florida) that the closest they will ever get to the United States of America, IS Miami. If you guys need anything for the show, let me know as I have no job lined up until maybe Sept. ;D Sharing some Plane & Train Photos of mine. I hope these get Us into the mood of thinking Planes, Trains & Auroras for Our mini- meet. The World's Largest Commercial Airliner - Airbus 380 The World's First Real Commercial Airliner - Douglas DC-3 The World Famous "Durango & Silverton Narrow Gage Railroad" in the rail yard at Durango. The DSNGRR Train on the High Line to Silverton Town - 400 feet straight DOWN. We love it out there, in the Area of Silverton, CO. If anyone wants to go Rock Hounding let me know, we own the "Chattanooga Mine" about 10 miles north of Silverton, just off Hwy 550 at the Chattanooga Loop (hair pin curve that can easily be seen from satellites - Google maps)
