It's going in the Aurora first thing Monday morning. Spoke with the outbound supervisor and the dock manager in Las Vegas all day yesterday. Of all the oilfield tools I ship through them, the one time I ship something personally it gets a hiccup. As far as anyone knows it got put on a truck without a bill of lading or a manifest (how exactly that happened nobody can tell me). So as the status is now it's somewhere between Vegas and Houston. I'm going to be on the phone all morning I guess. If I can't get an honest answer out of them by Noon I will be calling Homeland Security and informing them there is a 500 lb. crate roaming around the U.S. with no traceability whatsoever. Hopefully that will raise a few eyebrows and get the ball rolling. As Dale Gribble from King Of The Hill once said: "I have four phone lines and absolutely nothing to do. I am your worst enemy"

Well that was fast. Seems as though my persistence paid off. My crate is now fully traceable. Left Phoenix AZ last night at 10:22 pm. Scheduled delivery is today but after I get off work. May just pull some overtime and pick it up tonight.
**Leaving in 5 minutes to take my baby to the shop**

Well, the Aurora is in the shop, the motor got dropped off today, and work starts right after the Corvette gets finished. I'm like a kid on the last day of school waiting for the bell to ring.

Or pacing the halls waiting for the birth of one very cool Aurora. ;D Of course you already did that about 2 years ago when your daughter "Aurora" was born.

I can't wait to find out how the story ends. Just imagine a super sleeper Aurora lurking out there somewhere in Texas. The thought just makes me tingle all over. I want to hear how you blew the doors off of some Mustang GT that thought he had an easy mark.

Here's another Shelby crate engine; Reserve hasn't been met. Anyone else want to be brave? And another one

Mostly b/c it's a 244ci motor. So put the "442" badge on backwards.

This seems like a fun project. Anyone have an idea how the transmission is going to stand up to this kind of punishment?

The 4T80E will be OK. It can deal with the 300 HP Northstar V-8 fine.

How about a "CS" Caroll Shelby Of course no one but U and a few others would know what that represents CS badge is found on a lot of cars too. Would be easy to find one or two in the right size to look just right.

I think I'm going to leave it stock. I am wondering what the exhaust will sound like with an extra 75hp. Left sleeper style I hope the exhaust is the only subtle hint.

They are throwing my tech a lot of gravy to try and play catch up at the shop. He has been on motor swaps for almost a month now and the other techs were getting buried. With any luck they should start on her today. I'm crossing my fingers in hopes to have it back in time to take it to San Antonio for Thanksgiving. If not I'm going to have to borrow my father in-law's Camry (shudders).

Act quick if you want this one: shelbyNo reserve, under $900, 1 hour left (approx). Maybe should have posted in Market Place. Update - went for 1010!!

Though it's not installed yet, i have my doubts as to how much these are modified. Looking it over it looks totally stock, and the exhaust ports are still cast, not nicely machined smooth like you would expect an engine with cams and head work done. There will be a delay with the install as my friend had a death in the family yesterday. I will post on how it runs as soon as it's installed and broken in. Either way, $1500 for a NEW engine is a good deal no matter how you look at it.

X2. Even if the mods are minimal, $1500 is an absolute steal for a brand new motor. Even more so as complete as it came in the crate. I'm not sure how complete yours was Brain, but mine came with coilpacks, p/s pump, plug wires, plugs, intake manifold, the darn thing even came full of oil. I was amazed at how much was included.

It came the same way, but the ignition module was broken, and so was 1 coil pack. The evap purge solenoid was broken also.

My buddy just bought one for his sandrail and I was thinking the same thing. I think these shelby motors are bone stock 250 hp aurora motors from GM that had yet to be modified by shelby. The only way to tell for sure is to put the motor on a dyno or pull the heads and cams and measure them.

The only way to tell for sure is to put the motor on a dyno or pull the heads and cams and measure them. More than likely most of that power comes from a decent setup on the PCM. The cams are the 300hp version from the "9" 4.6. Probably making 280 with those cams, then throw in a quality program, and you've got your extra 40hp.. -Todd

I'm so excited it took me 5 minutes to login (had my username spelled wrong). Work started today at 8:00am. Just got a phone call at 10:50 and the motor is out!!! Might have it back late today or early tomorrow. We will be running the stock PCM for the time being, along with the OE wiring harness. Man I can't wait.

Got a phone call at 4:45pm last night. Mechanic says: "what's this sound like?" and proceeded to blip the throttle a few times. Sounded good over the phone!!! If all is well I should pick her up around lunchtime. I'll try and give an update with some video while I'm in San Antonio.
