If you have not sent out that PCM yet I would like part of that Harness. I built a piggy back harness for my car. I will see how it runs and if it is all good I will send you this setup. It will not be for daily driving, but a setup for the track. It will set many DTC's. You will be running two PCM's on the car. Let me know. I left one part of the tune on my tool box so I did not send it out yet.

I have not sent anything out yet either. Last weeks check had no overtime on it with the Thanksgiving holiday and whatnot. Let me know what part of the harness to send and I will be glad to include it. This is going to be my daily driver so I'm not sure I want a full blown race setup. Also, I have to pass Texas emissions testing in Feb. so a multitude of codes will not be in my favor. If there is a way to set up a good system with no codes that will put rice back in its bowl that's all I'm really looking for.
Oh, Apocalypse, there is no visible difference in the motor except that it is much more shiny. ;D

This is the portion I need It will give me enough to build you a piggyback harness.

Your stock PCM with a tuned program The Shelby PCM and a piggy back harness almost completed. I had it done, but I did not like the way it looked.

I'm confused. Are you sending me just a programmed Aurora PCM or a Shelby/Aurora piggyback system. I would like the piggyback system if you could set it up to not throw DTC's. I have to pass emissions in Feb.. If it cannot be done send me a wicked fast Aurora PCM and we can work something out when you get the piggyback system to not set codes. Btw, I'm sending you the Shelby PCM and the complete wiring harness after work tomorrow. I got out of work too late today.

I will grab that part today and reload that PCM again. Then I will mail it out on monday. After that we will talk about the other PCM. I have been spending way to much time on it. I hope it will pay off.

I am a new member, as of today, with a '97 Aurora, which I bought new. The engine head gaskets are shot and I have antifreeze coming out the tail pipes. I have a line on a new Shelby Series 1 engine, still in the crate, with the Shelby programmed computer. Does anyone know if all Series 1 engines are L47s or are some generation 2 Northstars? Does the Shelby modified computer exchange directly with the factory computer? The Series 1s were 5 and 6 speed manual transmissions, so if I use the Shelby modified computer will I have problems with the shifting points in my automatic or will the Shelby computer still have the correct programming? Please advise. Thanks, Donn

I believe all of the Shelby engines were the L47, out of the 1st gen aurora. No, the Shelby PCM will not plug-and-play, and will not control your 4T80-E. However, if you can get the Shelby engine for a good price, and it's brand new, you can install it in your car and use your factory PCM and it will control it just fine. Everything should plug right in. It won't have the shelby tune, but you'll have a BRAND NEW engine for basically pennies compared to what it would cost to buy one from GM.

Thanks for your information, it was very helpful. I just got home from meeting the seller to look at the new Aurora Series 1 engine he has for sale, infact the seller has two of them, still in their crates. He is asking $1,000 for each, I will buy one, anyone else interested in the other?

I was just looking around when I noticed this topic. I picked up 2 of these engines in Vegas when they were selling them. I plan on using them in sandrails. I have the engine wiring harnesses and the pcm. Can I use this pcm and harness in a sandrail or will I have to get a custom one done. I am glad to hear that these engines arent a joke and look forward to reading about all of these swaps.

I have been not feeling well. Today is the first day in about 2 weeks. The last week has been the roughest. Bad cold and little sleep. I will box it up today and send it out.

Yeah my setup was plug and play. No, the Shelby PCM will not work. That's some good finds on the motors. I'm having a blast with mine. The lower end is a little sluggish but the top end is absolutely wicked. AJ yours should be there Tuesday.

Not really. It's a little more over stock but you can just tell that the cams don't really wake it up until about 3500 rmp. I'm banking on the new PCM to take care of that rather well though.

ajxtcman- Do you know what the cost of your services might be? That is, when you get all the bugs worked out.
Also, would your custom tune benefit a stock engine at all? Or will it not really utilize the newfound programming.
Phydeaux- Make sure and let us know the differences when you get that puppy installed!
