At this point it's not looking good for me to make it.
But, it's two weeks away, and I've decided today is the day I'm tearing my car down. Need to re-seal the engine bottom end and swap in my parts car transmission. Also figure out that gawdawful racket that I believe is the starter and flywheel making contact. A little front suspension work and hopefully she'll be good for another 100K!

Good that you are getting her fixed. I am sad that you probably won't make it, but the Aurora comes first! If you manage to get her done in time you had better high-tail your self to Missouri! ;D

I quit my job so I have plenty of extra time, lol, it worked out good because I just needed to work long enough to have money for the meet. Monday morning I changed my oil, balanced my tires, and quit. They are calling for rain Saturday, but they don't know crap about weather, Friday is supposed to be clear, I can tell you I am really excited about the drag strip. I got my Madtuner computer installed and it is working pretty good.

That's too bad that it's going to rain Saturday, hopefully we can still go to the junkyard. As long as it's good for pictures on Sunday i'm ok! Maybe we should try to take some Friday just in case?

I spent a few hours on Monday waxing my car with Zaino wax, that stuff is amazing. My paint hasn't looked this good in years. I can't wait for you guys to see it! Sounds like good stuff all around.

Lathan has an AC blower motor module to put in and Lance wants help with his new side skirts, so we'll have some projects to do Friday night! ;D

Here are some track videos from quite a few meets ago, looks like the right lane hooks up a little better, but that could be the camera angle or the vehicle. I was driving my green/blue stock parts car with racing gas.

well in keeping the tradition alive...my aurora refuses to start for the 5th straight meet in a row. Brand new battery is only showing 25% charge. I dropped a charger on it but after 4 hours it's still at only 25%! Found a can of starter fluid. I'll keep charging it for a few more hours then try the fluid up the intake. If it still doesn't start then I'm coming in the ciera again. This ongoing ordeal has made me come to the conclusion that this car is no longer suitable as a daily driver and I believe I'll be stripping it down to the frame or close to it, remove about 600 pounds of crap i.e. window motors, 90% of the interior, lights, 20 billion miles of excess wiring, sound system, everything in the trunk, inner fenders, wipers, jack, spare tire, fuel tank (replace with 2-3 gallon fuel cell), washer tanks, window glass (replace with plexiglass), passenger seat, A/C system, anything and everything it isn't necessary - and just make a track car out of it. I'll paint it yellow and change her name to the e-LEMON-ator.

Lance there have only ever been six meets, and your car ran for at least half of them. Liar. ;D

Had a great time! Camping got canceled and the yard trip got delayed, both because of rain, at least we made it to the track. Here are some of my pics, a couple are way big thanks to imageshack, but hopefully will re-size.

i had a lot of fun this year. the drag racing was awesome. it was my first time at the track, and it was fun. i was cool that i saw the fastest Aurora 1/4 mile time with randy's 14.98. we definitely need to make a trip to the track a yearly tradition. we took pics all day saturday until it started to rain. i know we got some really good pics. saturday night we just worked on the cars a bit. sunday we made a trip to a junk yard before we split. it was definitely a great weekend and now i cant wait for next year.





































these are my powder coated tips that collins did for me. they are a black chome and they are sweet. they stick out a bit far, but i can tuck them in a bit a little later. i love them.

Those tips did look killer, Lathan. Now that we know how that powder behaves I think one coat would be best, it would let the metal show through more with the translucent powder. I was thinking about doing my OEM wheels in that same black chrome with just one coat after seeing how your pipes turned out.

I don't have a ton to add, but I do have a few videos! The first one is of Randy (4.6) and Lathan racing. I think you can guess which one Randy's is. (Sorry Lathan, had to post it. ;D) I think this might be the first video of a 4.6 Aurora!

At the VERY end you can hear the announcer say that Randy took it with a 15.07. Sweet!
