If we have 6-7 committed to attending, I don't want to scrap everything and reschedule! The chances may be even lesser that many of us out-of-towners (almost everyone) would be able to attend later on. We've been planning on June for awhile now, and I personally *know* I can/will be up in that area the weekend of the 20th right now, but who knows about the rest of summer? Especially with Dave and his photography offer! Can't ask for a better opportunity than that. A park or reserve would be nice, but I don't want to bail on the entire event just because we don't have that available.

Send some PM's to those folks if you don't mind. Everyone may not be constantly reading this thread. Not sure if anyone else did this but I sent out pm's this morning. Hopefully we will get some feedback soon. Without knowing who is comming, it's pretty hard to plan anything definite. I have asked for more definite numbers but only a handful have responded. Why don't we just re-schedule when we can get a Forest Preserve District booked. They are all booked solid and I am not going to barge in on someone elses get together. The picnic areas are on a reservation basis around here. I am good with when/where ever. It would be great if everyone were able to come, but I do wonder if these crazy gas prices may be driving some away. Let's see what kind of response we get from the pm's and go from there. any other suggestions? **edit** but don't wait too long or I may be coming in a convertible could I still come Is that "I may be a convertible" meaning your topless?

If we gather at the Roundhouse in Aurora and keep leaving we will probably lose our site eventually. My house, more casual and not palacial (that would be confusing me with Kay's Mansion), laid back, grill available homestyle setting in an Oldsmobile friendly atmosphere. We can come and go as we please. As for entertainment, we must create our own as with any car show.

If you mean a convertible car topless, maybe...could I still come? Either place is good for me but have you checked with your wife? You guys have a lot going on right now with her graduating. Does she mind the whole gang barging in on her home? btw Who is this Kay with the mansion? Also, we apparently won't have a problem creating our own entertainment...remember, you owe me a jig oldsnut ;D

I do like the laid back idea better than a concrete parking lot, but certainly don't want to impose Oldsnut. As long as we can meet each other, take a cruise around Aurora, and get some good photos, it's a successful meet in my book.

Alright peeps, sorry I have not been posting here, I'm still interested on this, but it looks like for June 21st I have like three events, Kay mentioned that the date might be moved up, that would work as well.
Let me know. I do like the idea of a big cook out of some sort, we can all bring a dish, burgers, dogs, you know.

The Pace Car is going to Aurora, IL on June 21st. I like meeting at a public lot (Payton's Place, aka The Round House), at least first, so some of the public can get a view of these great cars. We could then tour/parade around Aurora in our "Merry Oldsmobiles" and wind up at your house, "oldsnut". HEY, I might even let someone that knows Aurora(s) drive such a great show car around town. Any Park will do for a great photo OP. The Pavilions are the only thing that is reserved in the parks, that I know of. We don't need a Pavilion, do we? I have a set of Oldsmobile "Boxes & Bean Bags" to toss around, I will bring them. We will be bringing cookies, a few dozen or MORE. Hey oldsnut, I'm laid off, so I could drive around & find the best spot, We could do that together any time soon. I only live down in Channahon, not too far.

Hey, can I drive your pace car? Buddy I think Oldsnut has a sister in Channahon! Anyway, can I drive your pace car? I think we should stick with the 21st too. I think we should meet at Payton's Place take some shots there, parade around town, (can I drive your pace car) maybe find some other spots for photo's, but then head back to Payton's Place for lunch (it wouldn't matter at that point if we lose our "spot"). (can I drive your pace car) After all, they are blocking a nice spot of their lot off for our meet, I think it would be nice to at least patronize their place. (can I drive your pace car) However, we can bring the desserts...cookies ;D Then I think Oldsnut said if stragglers wanted to stop by his place, that would be ok (hope thats correct, but who knows, by the end of the day he may not want any of us there ;D ) . (can I drive your pace car) I really hate to put Oldsnut and the Mrs out, I know they probably have a very busy couple of weeks here with his wife's graduation and IIRC he has another car show too! Hey, Can I drive your pace car?

Hey, Can I drive your pace car? No you cannot drive his Pace Car Kay!! He has reserved all free time for the Pace Car to some guy from North Aurora. He might let you Co-Pilot the Pace Car if he is nice. Rancher, bring the bean game as of now. I am trying to get one free from Jagermeister but not sure if it willl happen. I welcome everyone back to the house, but I must have Kays assurance that she will not try to steal my wifes CC Cookie recipe. I would hate to break up a Cat Fight.

First, my earlier post was not directed toward you oldsnut , you know the world does not revolve around you Second, and I quote (notice the quotation marks ) "...if he is nice" what do you mean "if he is nice". Of course he is nice! besides, he gave me his home and email addresses So apparently he thinks I am OK too Third, I am really shocked......and hurt.....and and offended that you could think I would steal! Really, I would never do such a thing Fourth, Did I ever tell you my Dad use to call me Kat, Kit Kat, and Kitty Kat when I was a kid? So technically, it would be a Kat fight ;D But I do not participate in that kind of behavior either Hey Old nut, I gotta ask you, how did you hear those subliminal messages I left for Aurora Rancher? don't tell me everyone heard them? **edit** Oldsnut, thanks for having us and going to all the trouble you have. I for one really appreciate it. I think this is going to be the best car meet I have ever been to (oh yeah, it's my first one )

How did they know they would be my initials today. Example, they would even say things like "can you play Kay Kay" and "are you OKKK?"

The chit chat is fun and all, but we're not any closer to having a plan. Tony... it sounds like you might have the best way to find a good spot. Drive around until you find one! Like you said there must be public park areas where we can hang out, even if we don't have a pavilion or other reserve-able spot. Here's a place to start: www.aurora-il.org/parksandrecreation/index.phpLooks like quite a few options. And that doesn't include North Aurora or any other suburbs that are clustered in there close by.

I just want to say that on a summer day in this area that the parks are usually full. Especially the 21st, which is the first official weekend of summer. Some of them are dumps. Finding places to park as a group will be most difficult. We might show up at a park with Pavilion and get kicked out due to lack of parking when the registered group shows up for their event. I don't know about the rest but I don't want to turn this in to a roaming party. If it rains, what will we do without a Pavcilion?

Bean Bag games will be brought. I'm also thinking the Phillips Park with the real small zoo, to give the kids something to do. The thought of a car meet at a zoo on a hot summer day is not appealing, especially when the winds are right.

but you guys need to make up your minds. x2 Really at this point I (and probably all the out-of-towners) will just show up wherever I'm told. No kids on my end, just me and the wifey, so that will free us up for just about any location. Someone should bring some of those stick-on nametags, "Hello My Name Is..."

OK Since we haven't heard back from Aurora Rancher on sites we will go as planned. The meet will be held at Walter Payton's Roundhouse Complex in downtown Aurora. It is about 1 minute from Hollywood Casino but they don't have Bingo Kay, sorry. ;D The address is 205 N. Broadway Aurora IL. The phone # is 630-892-0034 if you have trouble finding it. We can start to arrive at the Roundhouse around 10AM. We can stay there for a while and get to know everyone play any games that people want to bring like bean bags, then drive to a wooded site or something nicer to take pictures. I put us at this location because it is an Aurora community Icon and a great customer of mine. Scotty(Railroad) and all football fans will love this place. They have a small Walter Payton museum inside. He was one of the founding partner until his untimely death. Nick from the Roundhouse welcomes us with open arms. We can either return to Paytons depending on the time or head to Oldsnuts place. It's not much but we have a Patio and Gazebo, a PS2 in the basement for the kiddies for those bringing them. At this time my spousal unit Joyce can teach Kay(Kathleen) the finer points of baking Chocolate Chip cookies. ;D This could be some great entertainment right there folks. I will have a small tent for some cover from the sun. Everyone needs to remember to bring folding chairs, sunscreen and whatever else they need to stay comfy for the afternoon. And their Aurora's of course. Directions are as follows: From the West are different due to construction on a major bridge:Off of I-88, exit Orchard Ave (Rt31 exit from west is closed for construction) After toll plaza at exit is Orchard, turn South(Left) onto Orchard, at Indian Trail turn East(Left) for a few miles. You will crossover Rt31/Linconway and proceed to IL 25 which is just past the Fox River and turn South(Right) proceed another couple of miles and your there. Paytons Roundhouse is a large round building on the East side (Left). From the East:Off of I-88, Exit Rt 31. It will curve around and go back over the highway and come to Rt 31, turn South(Right). In about a mile or so you will come to Sullivan Rd. Turn East(Left) and you will drive over the Fox River, the next light after the river is IL 25/Broadway. Turn South(Right) onto IL 25 and proceed for several miles to Paytons Roundhouse which is the large round building on the East side (Left) of the street. [glow=red,2,300]This map is directions from the East on I-88 ONLY. [/glow] more to follow

Google.com, then click on "Maps" kaykirk. P.S. could you be in charge of PM'ing the new location information to all the folks who are in the area but may not be reading this thread? I'd say anyone else that's posted within the last 3-4 pages who expressed interest. Not trying to change things up too much, but I got an e-mail back from my N. Aurora friends with some location info. I know nothing about these places, not being from the area:

What are we doing for food? I have no problem with lunching at the roundhouse and it may be easier than people bringing food from hours away. If we do have a picnic, we need to get organized on who is bringing what....oldsnut, do you have a good deli in Aurora? Everyone, what are your thoughts?
