It is that time again for the Midwest/National Aurora's in Aurora meet. If Saturday the 26th of June 2010 is an acceptable date then I will book the same preserve for the meet unless I hear otherwise or come up with a better location in the area or you tell me that you all want it somewhere else in the Midwest.
From the response last year everyone loved the location and the venue. I can't book the site until January 1st, it's first come, first served. If this date does not work give me options that work for the Majority.
Kay, you will be there regardless of the date! Tony, here is your notice in advance. Roger, I know you are out there lurking and hope you can make it next year. Someone contact Rustymutt. Javi, YES you can bring your car even though it's not an Aurora. Whino, if you need a place to stay, you got it.
Everyone, spread the word and make it the best turnout ever for an ACNA meet. Can we possibly get this to a more national level next year?
I might even invite some of my local buds from Aleromod.com to stop by as many are fans of the Aurora's/Olds also.
Let me know if this dat works?

Way to plan ahead! That location/pavilion/playground was great overall. Javi, YES you can bring your car even though it's not an Aurora. Hope I can too? Javi and I can represent the Chrysler division of ACNA!

I just plain don't have the cash to come up there, I can say that right now. I only have one meet in my budget and I've done Springfield, MO for two years in a row now so I'm going to stick with Randy's place. We were thinking of campaigning for that one as the National meet because it's a whole weekend and Randy's place has free camping due to all his land. I guess when we see what interest there is in a "national" meet and how many people are willing to come from farther away we can find a place.
Be sure to get a picture or two without an Alero in it for the Calendar. It is an Aurora meet after all... It's one thing if Javi brings his 300 b/c we all know him from the forum but it's another if a random Alero shows up! ;D

Ummm I do not know if I will be making it this year, the GA is doing the best it can but I'm not sure if it will still be around. Either way, if I do make it, I Will represent the Pontiacs of the club, which should easily own the chryslers, and even show the alero's a thing or two. As this thread progresses I will be sure to make up my mind.

Well I need to have more responses for this location or it is a NO GO. I have not booked it yet and the dates to Reserve the preserves go quickly. If you guys want the same location on that date I need to know by Monday so I can book it. If not we will have to take what's left. There is a Dragstrip 35-40 minutes away in Byron for those that want to race. There is also nothing stopping this from becoming a weekend meet.

Would it be great, if this club could find any of the former GM employees (engineers, designs, line workers, etc), work worked on the Aurora, and invite them to this meet?
David North comes to mind.

Have some club spirit! I would never have gone to the dragstrip unless Randy made me and now I'm glad I did. It's not fun unless everyone goes!

Well I need to have more responses for this location or it is a NO GO. Count us in, despite the lack of Aurora (the car). We made a long weekend of it in 2009, visiting family nearby and camping (in the RV, don't take me for a tent guy ) at Shabbona Lake State Park about 30 miles away. Very nice park and a small town car wash on the way, for anyone else needing a camping spot. We might even be able to have a tent on our RV site, most campgrounds are fine with that since no extra power is being used. If we still need more confirmations before reserving the spot, we can contact some of the members from last year who may not visit the forums all that often and haven't seen this thread. Rustymutt (Dave) and tpunk (Tyler) jump to mind. There was also the gent last year in the white Classic, who reads the forum but doesn't post... anyone have contact info for him?

well if you allow those without Auroras to come I imagine you would allow me and my rusty boat to show too? If she makes it through the winter, I am sure she could make the trip!
do I have to bring blueberry surprise?
btw, Byron is just down the road from me...I'm not racing but I would be a cheerleader if needed ;D

KAY - If I am going to be making this trip than I refuse to take any excuse for your blatant "forgetfullness" to bring blueberry surprise. Girls your age don't usually have problem remembering such important things. Especially maintaining the traditional dessert. I am not going to say yes or no quite yet, but if everything goes as planned I will be there in something. Wether it be a bike, oldwino, or me bribing scotty into letting me drive the pacifica up there. If I can get the time off and the extra funds than count me in.

and i doubt it will be painted by then. Uh... who cares? I mean yeah we have these meets because of the cars, but we don't sit around and examine each others' Auroras looking for faults to point out. Although aura1 was sure to mention how "dull" or "dingy" (can't remember the exact term used) my interior color looked this past June?! C'mon now xjsman, we won't take such lame excuses from you. Put aside $15/month from now until then and you'll have plenty of gas money. (Ok maybe I shouldn't commit to that without knowing what the pump prices will be this summer). You can probably even pitch a tent for free on our campsite... see MY post a few back. ;D aura1, with 3 screaming kids in the backseats... I don't think you'd want to take the wheel of this Pacifica on the trip in. I'm more than happy to toss the keys around once we're on-site though. It's still got a 4.0L under the hood... just a different one!

We shall see... I'm hoping to have a job working Maintenance at my apartment complex this summer so I may have the cash. I'd only go if it was an entire weekend meet, if it's only a day I'll save the cash for Springfield in October.
And if you kids are going to convince me to drive all 8 hours up there there had better be some Blueberry Surprise waiting!
